Will it happen this year?

Once again it's summer, when I should have a little extra time for working with the dogs. (not much, but a little more than usual) Once again my goal is to have Ranger ready for the obedience ring this fall.  Once again, all we need to work on is proofing and ring manners.  Will we get it done?  Maybe, maybe not, but once again we're going to try.  If it happens, it happens, if not, I've still got a trained dog who gets a little excited in the performance ring because he spends very little time there due to other important things, like hunting, taking up his weekend time.

On the topic of hunting, I just discovered a great retriever puppy training blog that I wish had been around 10.5 years ago when Ceilidh was a pup.   It's really great.  I don't have any pups, but I'm thinking of trying some of their stuff as remediation for big dogs.
